mixed nuts & cheeky beaks

Mixed Nut Project is now open to the public.
One shape, many creative interpretations.

When Kirsty asked me to participate this past spring I was intimidated but did it anyway. I created my totem animal, the beaver. The belly embroidery is sort of a portrait of my hubby and I - he, making fire (so manly) and I'm shown crafting away. So many uber-talents participated and were way more creative than I. They had a gallery showing some months ago in Australia and now Kirsty's posted them for display and purchase here. Thanks to Kirsty and all her hard work!

And to my HUGE surprise, he was purchased. I found out my sneaky, little friend Kristen, of Kristen Doran Design, snatched him up. I would have gotten him back and given him to her had I known. Not only did she buy my sad beaver (with real money), she sent me a video of one of her little guys with Frizz (it's new name due to the tag on the back) saying hello to me personally and pics of the both of them using my stamps on gift paper. Isn't the internet amazing. I was touched.

Check out Kristen's contribution (scroll to the very bottom) for the Mixed Nut Show - so cute! She sold her design at the gallery show and I heard that if there had been ten they would have all sold and I believe it!!

I would have so bid on it had I known earlier! The illustration on the tummy is way too cute. Maybe you have a niche, here Frizz! (You could do story characters with scenes on their bodies!)

Wonderful work! Once again, I'm in envy over your many talents!

Hi,

Found your site through a fellow etsian and had to comment on your stuffed beaver. How adorable is he?! I've bookmarked your site - it's clean, simple and I love your work!

I love that beaver. Really I do. If I saw your young friend in town totting him around, I might just snatch him and run. I love him that much.
